I'm brand new to Linux and am using wubi to trial out Ubuntu. The router is in my office on the main floor of the house and my desktop is connected to it directly. They re-ran the cable coming to the house though a while back if I remember right. Select Device manager. So that would rule out that problem, wouldn't it?
This sends small data packets to the target site out and measures how fast your connection is in milliseconds. This guy spent waaay to much on his home network to have to worry about such things.... If not, and you're running Windows XP, you might want to try this Winsock fix tool as a last resort. Losing Internet Connection Every Few Minutes
It could be that your PC is trying to find an IP address and the DHCP server (which hands out IP addresses) isn't cooperating or isn't finding one. imp source The driver of the network card seems to be already updated to the latest version.
