If anyone has any information I would be greatly appreciative. Replaced my ATAPI DVD drive with this combination and the drive was recognized. Or should I just make another partition and run the program from it? Now I hook my new 500gig drive into my old pc xp SP3, go into Disk Management tool, create a new partition of all 500 (well 465.76) gigs, format to ntfs, Check This Out

Can I temporarily use a cd rom IDE to run the second hard drive on? You just have to make sure the blocks of your file system line up with those sectors, I think Windows 7 will do that, XP needs help, dunno bout Vista. The application does not recognize the new drive when attached to the pc. I have a WD1001FALS 1TB and suddenly VISTA and BIOS recognize only 33MB. Unfortunately, this process doesn't seem to be reversible, as none of the Samsung tools (ESTool or HUTIL) nor HDat2 were able to switch it back on. Worth mentioning perhaps: dell also has a separate bootpartition on its systems. Both hard drives are Western Digitals.
